What usually gets memorised without meaning
- Symbols get learned as a list to recite, so a child can name the national bird and not say what a symbol is for.
- Dates arrive without a sense of order, and a young child has no timeline to hang them on.
- Children in the diaspora have no daily context at all, so the material has to carry its own explanation.
Start with what your child already sees
Begin with the flag and the symbols your child encounters, then move outward to provinces and landmarks. Familiar first gives the rest something to attach to.
