This is the first arithmetic course. Adding and taking away are introduced separately and within small numbers, then both are extended to twenty, which is the range a Grade 1 child needs before place value makes any sense.
The Grade 1 Maths course is two units, taken in order: Adding and Taking Away and Working to 20.
That is 4 numbered lessons and 23 written questions, about 20 minutes of teaching altogether, which usually spreads across a week or two. Lessons can be replayed and the questions are dealt fresh each time.

Children spend real time on what a number means and how quantity works before they are asked to add, and the early lessons let a child tap each object as they count so that quantity forms as an idea rather than a rhyme.

Levels and scoring

How long does the Grade 1 Maths course take?
4 lessons and 23 questions, about 20 minutes of teaching. There is no streak to maintain and no deadline, so it can be done in one sitting or spread out.
What age is Grade 1 Maths for?
Ages 5 to 6 is the guide, but go by what your child can already do rather than by age. Nothing is locked for a visitor, so trying the level above or below costs nothing and takes one tap.
Is Grade 1 Maths free?
Yes, and without the usual catch. No account is needed, there is no advertising and there are no in-app purchases. It also works with no connection once the site is added to a home screen, or through the free Android app.
My child can count but cannot add. Is that normal?
Yes, and it is the usual order. Counting is a sequence, adding is an operation on quantities. The early maths units deliberately slow down on quantity so that adding has something to stand on.
