What the Grade 4 English course covers
This course is about the machinery of a sentence. Nouns, pronouns and adjectives are separated, then subject and predicate, then the three simple tenses side by side, and it ends on reading a passage and answering questions about what it actually said.
The Grade 4 English course is two units, taken in order: Words and Sentences and Tenses and Reading.
The course runs to 4 numbered lessons and 33 written questions, around 20 minutes of teaching. Most families take it over a few weeks. Each attempt draws a different set of questions, so repeating a lesson is practice rather than recall of the answer order.

How English is taught here

What age is Grade 4 English for?

Start at kindergarten rather than Grade 1. Knowing letter names is not the same as knowing letter sounds, and the kindergarten units separate the two deliberately. If the sound work is easy, moving up takes one tap.
